The role of the Children’s Policy Coalition is to elevate critical child issues to the prominence they deserve. To do so, CPC maintain the It’s About Our Kids website. It is also disseminating a child policy guide, Securing America’s Future: Children and the 2016 Election, that outlines the federal policies affecting children and raises six questions pertaining to children that presidential candidates need to address. The coalition also reaches out to Iowa Congressional and Gubernatorial candidates and asking them to spell out their views on child-policy issues both in response to a survey and on their websites, and sponsors forums that give candidates the opportunity to present their views and asks them to support including child-policy issues as a specific topic in debates.
Many members of the Coalition have policy agendas of their own, often focusing on specific areas of child and family policy.
CPC member organizations:
Children’s Policy Coalition is staffed by Every Child Counts, the advocacy initiative of the Child and Family Policy Center. CFPC was established in 1989 “to better link research and policy on issues vital to children and families and to advocate for evidence-based strategies to improve child outcomes.”
